Using Aftermovie
Aftermovie is a personal-use app for logging and rating live DJ/electronic music sets, and sharing that log with a small group of friends you choose to follow or be followed by. By creating an account you agree to these terms.
Account & sign-in
You sign in with a phone number or an email address and receive a one-time passcode to verify it's yours, in the Aftermovie mobile app. You're responsible for keeping access to whichever contact method you use, and for anything posted under your account.
Messaging terms
If you sign in with a phone number in the mobile app, entering it and tapping “Send code” means you agree to receive a one-time SMS passcode to verify your number. Message frequency is one message per sign-in or sign-up attempt; we send no marketing or recurring messages. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, or HELP for help. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Full details are on our SMS Terms page.
Your content
Reviews, ratings, tags, and lists you create remain yours. You control who can see them by choosing who to accept as a follower. Aggregate, de-identified statistics (like an artist or festival's average rating) may be shown publicly, without attributing them to you individually.
Our name & software
The Aftermovie name, logo, and the app itself are ours. You're welcome to use the app and share links to what you create in it (a list, a review), but you can't copy, resell, or build a competing product from our software or branding.
Acceptable use
Don't use Aftermovie to harass others, impersonate someone else, or post content you don't have the right to post. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Objectionable content and the accounts that post it are removed, and abusive users are ejected, without notice. You can report any content or user from their profile; reports are acted on within 24 hours.
Suspending or closing your account
We may suspend or terminate your account for violating the Acceptable Use section above -- repeated harassment, impersonation, or posting content you don't have the right to, for example. You can also close your own account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account; this is immediate and permanent, removing your profile, reviews, attendances, follows, and lists right away, not just hiding them. Event & artist imagery
Some event and artist images shown in Aftermovie are drawn from public event-listing sources, as a stand-in until we have a direct relationship with the promoter or artist. If you're a rights holder and want an image removed, email privacy@aftermovie.fm with a link to the page and we'll take it down promptly.
Third-party links
Aftermovie may link to sites we don't operate -- an artist's official page, a venue or ticketing site, an app store listing. We aren't responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any site we don't run ourselves.
No warranty & limitation of liability
Aftermovie is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee the app will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows it, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages from using the app, including lost data or a missed event. Aftermovie is free, so our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past 12 months -- which, in practice, is $0.
Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois. If something's wrong, email us first at privacy@aftermovie.fm -- we'd rather sort it out directly than end up there.
Changes
We may update these terms as the app evolves; the date at the top of this page reflects the last change. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
