What Aftermovie is
Aftermovie is a mobile app for logging and rating live DJ/electronic music sets you've attended, and sharing that with a small group of friends you choose. This policy explains what information we collect and how it's used.
Information we collect
- Your phone number or email address (whichever you sign in with), used solely to send you a one-time passcode to verify it's you. Which one the sign-in screen offers can change over time; either way, only that one contact method is collected for this purpose.
- Your chosen handle, and optionally an avatar photo and home city.
- The sets, events, and artists you mark as attended, along with any ratings, text, and tags you add.
- Your follow relationships with other users.
- Your device's coarse location, only while the app is open and only to sort festivals near you by distance. Never used in the background, never stored against your profile.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of service providers to run Aftermovie, and your data passes through them only as needed to operate the app:
- Supabase: hosts our database, authentication, and file storage, and delivers the one-time passcode email when you sign in with email instead of phone.
- Twilio: delivers the SMS verification code when you sign in with a phone number.
We don't use any analytics or advertising SDKs, and we don't share your data with anyone beyond these providers.
Links to other websites
Aftermovie may link to sites we don't operate -- an artist's official page, a venue or ticketing site. If you follow one of those links, that site's own privacy practices apply, not this policy. We don't control and aren't responsible for how those sites handle your information.
SMS / phone number use
Your phone number is used only to authenticate you via a one-time passcode sent by SMS. You should expect to receive an SMS only when you request to sign in or create an account (one message per sign-in attempt). This is not a recurring or subscription message. Message and data rates may apply.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, and reply HELP for help. See our SMS Terms for full details.
Email sign-in
If you sign in with an email address instead of a phone number, your address is used only to send you a one-time passcode to verify it's you, the same way SMS works for a phone number. You'll receive an email only when you request to sign in or create an account. We don't send marketing email to this address.
How we share your data
We do not sell or rent any of your personal data (phone number, email address, handle, reviews, attendances, tags, or follow relationships) to anyone, for marketing or any other purpose. The only parties who ever see it are the service providers above, strictly to operate the app, and the friends you've accepted as followers within the app itself.
Who can see your activity
Your reviews and attendances are visible only to yourself and people you've accepted as followers -- never publicly, and never to anyone by default. Lists work the same way unless you choose otherwise: when you create or edit a list, you can optionally set its visibility to Public, in which case that specific list's title, description, and items become visible to anyone with the link, without needing to follow you. This only ever applies to a list you've deliberately marked Public -- it never applies to your reviews, attendances, or any list you haven't set that way yourself. Aggregate statistics (like a set or artist's average rating) are derived from many users' reviews and are not attributed to you individually.
Data storage
Your data is stored with Supabase (Postgres) and is protected by row-level security policies that enforce the visibility rules above at the database level.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data, but no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We can't guarantee absolute security, and neither can anyone else.
Your choices
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account, or by contacting us. Deletion is immediate: your profile, reviews, attendances, tags, follows, and lists are all removed right away and permanently, not just hidden -- we don't hold onto a copy afterward. Removing your phone number or email address will prevent you from receiving any further messages from us through that channel. You can also email us at any time to ask what data we have about you or to correct something that's wrong.
Legal disclosures
We may disclose your data if we're legally required to (for example, a valid subpoena or court order), or where we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect someone's safety, investigate misuse of the app, or defend against a legal claim. We don't use this as a workaround to share data more broadly than described elsewhere in this policy.
Children's privacy
Aftermovie is not directed at children, and you must be at least 13 years old to use it. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it -- contact us if you believe this has happened.
